Stratos XCR
I have had these not quite a year now. I would rate them just so-so. I have used them primarily on my fitness hike above my place which is a 2.5 mile rocky trail with a 2,600 foot vertical rise. As this is Southeast Alaska it is always wet. They kept my feet from getting soaked and are okay breathers on the rare dry day, but I found the footing on wet wood, roots crossing the trail to be way too treacherous.
I've owned three pairs of Montrail Hurricane Ridges,a pair of Java's and the Vitesse(?). The Vitesse (probably spelling it wrong) though not goretex, has been my favorite, and stood up well with a 45 pound pack on my all walk-in approach and back of Mt. Aspiring, outside of glacier travel.
I got the Stratos for the ankle height and XCR and it does buy me some ankle protection and a modicum of support for sure....but like today, I was on the mountain with my Hurricane Ridges instead.
