Rock tie for tent

Rock tie we dreamed up to use to anchor our tent to boulders in the Andes in February 2016. Composed of tough sailing line and fixed to tent lines via a small snap-link this consisted of a lanyard with 4 terminal ties to wrap around boulders.

Rock Anchor

We tried that on Rainier and a 60 mph gust flattened our tent with us in it. Once we got it anchored securely it flapped all night.

Owch! Well, we had some very noisy nights in the Andes - but nothing actually flattened us that we noticed. My friend Jon will be most disappointed that his state of the art piece of tentineering has already been patented ; )
