Red Hill is a Catskill peak located near the hamlet of Claryville, NY in the Sundown Wild Forest. It has an altitude of 2990ft and has a 60ft fire tower on the summit that operated from 1920-1990. The view from the tower is of the Catskill High Peaks to the north, and Rondout Reservoir to the south. There is a nicely maintained observers cabin, picnic tables and pit privy's on the summit area as well. Red Hill is part of the Fire Tower Challenge, by the ADK Mountain Club.
There is a full description of the trail as well as directions to the trailhead found HERE.
Always sign in at the trail register. Be safe and wear hunter orange during hunting season Oct-Dec. Much of the mountain is private land, so be sure to keep to the trail and summit area. Note: The firetower cab is staffed and open on weekends summer and fall although there is still a nice view from the upper stairs.

Trail switchbackAt the spot where an 8 is nailed to a tree the trail makes a switchback that is easy to miss because of an herd path that looks like the trail, the herdpath dies out fairly fast but puts you into some realy unstable terrain
