Route Description

Perc Akademicka ("Academics' or Students' Path") is one of the most interesting hiking routes in the area of Babia Gora .
On one hand it's the shortest way to climb main summit of Babia(1725) on the other it's the most demanding tourist
route in whole Beskidy Mountains
including some rocky sections insured with chains and clasps which make our trip more
interesting ...

Perc Akademicka :

Yellow marks , 1,5 h - 2h walk-up ,descent by the same way 1h in summer conditions

Markowe Szczawiny(1180) - Skret Ratownikow - Szumiaca Woda gorge - Piarzysty Zleb gully - Czarny Dziob cliff - Diablak
summit(1725)
.

We start our trip to the summit from Markowe Szczawiny Chalet with 15 minute walk with blue marks of "Gorny Plaj"
trail in direction to Krowiarki Pass . At the place called "Skret Ratownikow" ("Rescuers' turning")
we turn right onto very steep yellow marked path .
We can hear a roar of a stream flowing along the route on the left in
a deep gorge . It's Szumiaca Woda stream ("Roaring Water") .
After achieving upper forest line our path enters Kotlinka Suchego Potoku ("Dry Stream's dell") - impressive view towards
Kosciolki . Then we turn left and climb steep slope through rare forest and dwarf mountian pine . After passing
Piarzysty Zleb gully we achieve the cliff of Czarny Dziob ("Black Beak") .
Here appear some difficulties . We make under-rock traverse using narrow pathway insured in most demanding places with
clasps and chains .
In the end the route goes through wide stony slope where We can take
a little rest ...Diablak summit is seen very well ,we're very close to the target of our trip .

Remember !
Take this route by sure and safe weather - it's especially dangerous in winter (avalanche danger) and by summer t-storms .

Perc Akademicka route is always being closed for wintertime for tourists (unofficially some people take it on
their own risk ...)
