Overview

Mount Polonina Carynska is one of the most prominent massifs in Polish part of Bieszczady mountain group. Located between Prowcza(in the West) and Wolosaty(in the East) river valleys, in the very heart of Bieszczady National Park. From North the pass of Przyslup Carynski separates the massif from Mount Magura Stuposianska. From South it is neighbouring with extensive Mount Dzial and further Bieszczady Border Range via Wyznianska pass.

In its 2-kilometre long polonyna summit ridge one can distinguish 4 culminations from which the highest one is Kruhly Wierch reaching altitude of 1297 m asl and offering wide Carpathian panoramas in all directions,
from Ukrainian side even to High Tatra range on western horizon if the visibility conditions are favourable.

Polonia Carynska with its characteristic shape and silhouette remains one fo the symbols of Bieszczady Mountains and the view towards the mountain from serpentines of the road over former Berehy village is one of the most photographed, classical Bieszczady postcard view.

The name of the mountain comes from "Carynskie" non-existing, former Boyko village located on its northern foothills.
